Silicone rubbers and foam

Silicone rubbers and foams are versatile materials known for their exceptional durability, flexibility, and resistance to extreme temperatures. Made from silicone—a polymer composed of silicon, oxygen, carbon, and hydrogen—these materials are widely used in various industries due to their excellent thermal stability, electrical insulation properties, and resistance to environmental factors such as UV radiation, ozone, and moisture.

Silicone rubbers are synthetic elastomers that retain their properties over a wide temperature range, from -60°C to 250°C. They are ideal for applications where high performance and longevity are critical, including automotive, aerospace, medical, and consumer goods. Silicone rubbers maintain flexibility and resilience under extreme heat and cold, are resistant to chemicals, oils, and solvents, and medical-grade variants are safe for use in medical devices and implants due to their biocompatibility. Common applications include automotive seals and gaskets, medical devices, electrical insulation, and kitchenware.

Silicone foams are lightweight, flexible materials created by introducing gas bubbles into the silicone matrix. These foams offer excellent cushioning, thermal insulation, and vibration damping properties, making them suitable for a wide range of applications. Silicone foams provide effective insulation against heat and cold, maintain their shape and cushioning properties over prolonged use, and are inherently flame-retardant, ensuring safety in high-risk environments. They are used for thermal insulation in electronics, cushioning and sealing in automotive and aerospace components, vibration damping in machinery, and protective padding in medical and consumer products.
